Chapter 9 — Virtue

✍️ 1. About the Poem & Poet

George Herbert (1593–1633) was a clergyman, orator and religious (metaphysical) poet of 17th-century England (with John Donne, Andrew Marvell). This poem is from his collection The Temple (1633). It shows that mere beauty is short-lived; only a virtuous soul lasts for ever.

🎯 2. Theme (ମୂଳଭାବ)

All earthly beauty — the day, the rose, the spring — is temporary and must die. Only a sweet and virtuous soul is immortal and eternal.
